Touring Sites in Northumbria

We are considering visiting Northumbria next year, can anyone suggest Touring sites they have used/ had experience of, are there any secret gems out there we should try?
Hopefully members suggestions will take away some of the guess work, TIA

We thoroughly enjoyed Springhill Farm at Seahouses but it has been considerably updated since our visit. They can’t have changed the views out to sea and the Farne Islands though! Worth checking their website – it’s quite well located for Berwick, Holy Island, Kielder etc. Have a lunchtime pint and a walk on the beach at Newton by the Sea – in fact there are many coastal towns and villages worth visiting. Enjoy.

    Hi Sam/Enid
Many thanks for the recommendation, site looks like it could fit the bill nicely, looks to be in the ideal location for the area we want to explore.

    Hello Martin & Sandra,

If you look on the web site under EVENTS and Event Reports there is a report, NORTHUMBERLAND & THE FARNE ISLANDS – JUNE 2015 which may give you some ideas of what to see and do in the area. The event was held at the C&CC site Dunstan Hill which was a suitable location with all the usual facilities.

We enjoyed our stay at the CC site at Nunnykirk, a basic site quite close to Rothbury a few years ago. It was quite close to most attractions in Northumberland but as I said it has no facilities save for the usual EHU etc. We prefer these sites which I appreciate are not to everyone’s taste.

Thanks Edward, by all accounts an event we sadly missed, but the insight into the area is welcomed, hopefully we can do it justice.

Thanks for that Alan, we have looked at both Nunnykirk and River Beamish, trying to work out the most suitable for us to tour from, with Sam and Enid’s suggestion, this might have to be a two centre visit!
