How do they affect VA membership records?
Over the last couple of months, you will almost certainly have been deluged by all manner of organisations, both by Email and 'Snailmail', with requests to update your website and account preferences related to the personal data they hold on you. This is in order to comply the with changes from the old Data Protection Act to the new GDPR legislation introduced by our good friends in Brussels. The GDPR's come into force on 25th May 2018.
Members of the VA Committee have also been looking into the implications of the new regulations and how they effect the Association.
As we are a small organisation and do not contact our membership with any form of marketing material, it is not necessary for VA to add to your Inbox. Instead, a document summarising the personal data held on our members has been placed on the website, together with an explanation of procedures in place to safeguard and maintain that limited quantity of data.
